Ryan Benharris

Ryan Benharris of The Law Offices of Deborah G. Kohl is a determined and reliable personal injury attorney concentrating in the areas of Workers’ Compensation law, Social Security Disability law, Longshoremen and Harbor Workers’ Compensation claims, Defense Base Act claims and Municipal Accidental Disability Retirements. He has more than 16 years’ experience representing injured workers.

Attorney Ryan Benharris is currently the Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Attorney Benharris is a 2001 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a 2005 graduate of Southern New England School of Law (now known as University of Massachusetts School of Law - Dartmouth), where he served as the President of the Student Bar Association. He served as the President of the UMass Law School Alumni Association from 2014 through 2017.

Mr. Benharris is licensed to practice in Rhode Island and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group, and presented his research at the organization’s 2018 Annual Convention in Las Vegas. He has been with the Law Offices of Deborah G. Kohl for more than sixteen years; serving as a paralegal for several years and, since 2005, as a dedicated staff attorney.

In 2008, Attorney Benharris was awarded the Stanley Rudman Award for Advocacy by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. A panel of over 20 practicing attorneys and two Massachusetts Superior Court Judges selected Attorney Benharris, out of a group of 25 attorneys, to receive this distinguished award.

Mr. Benharris is frequently cited as a resource on workers’ compensation matters. In 2018, he appeared on Workers’ Comp Matters to discuss how Millennials, remote work and the gig economy are affecting workers’ compensation.

When workers in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island are injured on the job, they often don’t know what to do next.
